The global anime conversation may still be centered around Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, but there’s another incredibly successful franchise making a return this week, Violet Evergarden.
The coming-of-age fantasy series has become an icon of modern anime over the past few years, with very few titles that can match the development of its highly emotional character.
The franchise is set to return this week with the release of the second animated film, simply called Violet Evergarde: The Movie, but how can you watch the movie online and what time will it be available to stream?
What is Violet Evergarden: The Movie about?
The film Violet Evergarden is torn between “present time” with Daisy, the granddaughter of Anne Magnolia, and 50 years in the past with Violet.
One day, Daisy finds the letters sent to her grandmother and becomes fascinated by the legend of Violet Evergarden.
Back with Violet, who continues to rise to fame after her letters went public, despite automatic memory dolls becoming less prevalent in society.

How can you watch Violet Evergarden: The Movie online?
At the time of writing, the film is not available on alternative platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Crunchyroll, or Funimation – neither the animated series nor the previous film.

Violet Evergarden: the movie release date and time
Violet Evergarden: The Movie is due out on Netflix on Wednesday, October 13e at 12:00 p.m. PDT in accordance with the Blu-Ray DVD launch in Japan.
The film will be made available to most of the streaming giant’s international releases at the following times around the world:
- Pacific Time: 12:00 p.m. PDT
- Eastern Time: 3:00 a.m. EDT
- UK Time: 8:00 a.m. BST
- European Time: 9:00 a.m. CEST
- India Time: 12:30 p.m. IST
- Philippine Time: 3:00 p.m. PHT
The film was due to premiere in Japan in January 2020, but has been repeatedly delayed due to the Kyoto Animation arson attacks and the coronavirus pandemic. It was released in Japanese theaters in September 2020, with Funimation showing the film in select theaters in March of this year.
How was the film rated by critics and fans?
Violet Evergarden: The Movie received stellar reviews from fans and critics alike.
The film currently scores an impressive 8.6 / 10 on IMDB, 8.88 / 10 on MyAnimeList and an average audience rating of 99% on Rotten Tomatoes!
