The 2022 Mets have finally completed a three-game sweep!
The New York Mets, who have played great baseball all season, have really taken the baseball idiom “just keep winning two out of three” to heart so far this season – because they literally just did. Nick Castellanos last night hit a late three-run homer to put the Phillies ahead and the game was more like “hey the Mets won two of three”. Plummer then hit a solo shot to tie him up and Eduardo Escobar won the game in the 10th. These Mets!

Either way, the Nationals come to town today with the New York Mets still flying high on the excitement from last night. David Peterson will start today. So far in five games, four starts, this season he has pitched 25.0 innings with a 2.16 ERA, 3.62 FIP, 1,000 WHIP and 182+ ERA. He joined the Mets rotation in his last outing against the Giants and held them to two runs and three hits over six innings. Peterson made a start against the Nationals last season where he held them to one run on two hits and three walks in 4 2/3 innings of work. The Nationals have the following career numbers against Peterson:
The Mets bats will have another look at Erick Fedde. Over nine starts and 45 2/3 innings this year, Fedde has posted a 3.55 ERA, 4.17 FIP, 1.380 WHIP and 110+ ERA (all career best so far) . This is due to his May where he allowed six runs on 21 hits and 14 walks in five starts and 27 2/3 innings. This translates into an ERA of 1.95 and an FIP of 3.93. His first start of the season was against the Mets who scored twice on five hits and walked twice in five innings. The Mets have the following numbers against Fedde:
- Brandon Nimmo 5-22, 3BB, 4K
- Pete Alonso 6-14, 2 2B, 4BB, 2K
- Dominique Smith 2-17, 2BB, 3K

Game Notes
Jeff McNeil is at DH today after getting Sunday night’s game.
Brandon Nimmo is out for his third straight game with a sore wrist. Nimmo received a cortisone injection in his wrist over the weekend and Buck Showalter has speculated he could be back in the lineup tonight. We will have to wait another day.
Let’s put!
