Fortnite Leak suggests mechs are making a comeback
During Fortniteof history, many different elements have come and gone. From points of interest to item types to a plethora of travel mechanics, the game has seen a wide variety of content over the years, some more controversial than others. According to a prominent Fortnite dataminer and leaker, one of those most controversial pieces of content, may soon be making a comeback.
Epic Games just finished celebrating Fortnitefour-year anniversary last week. The limited-time event saw a series of special quests Fortnite players could do so in exchange for birthday cake themed cosmetics, as well as temporarily bringing back the Birthday Gifts item. However, the item disclosed above has not been seen since. Fortnitethe second anniversary of – the Mechs that divide.
The potential return of Fortnite‘s Mechs comes through the ShiinaBR leaker and dataminer. According to Shiina, they discovered a curiously named file uploaded with the latest update to the game. Entitled “FundingStation.Mech.FundedAmount”, the name undoubtedly refers to the mighty long-vaulted Mechs. For now, the leaker says it’s unclear if these will be the 2-person BRUTE Mechs from past seasons, or if it will be an all-new Mech more in line with the ongoing events. Fortnite ‘plot of s. Shiina also notes that the Mechs will likely be added later this season based on the text in the file.
FortniteThe Mechs were first introduced in Season 10 of Chapter 1 as the new Primary Mechanic. Almost immediately, the BRUTEs encountered significant backlash from the players, almost universally seen as unbalanced and overpowered. After a few weeks of vehement complaints, Epic Games finally responded with a major BRUTE nerf, dramatically reducing the mobile weapon’s rocket lethality and overall mobility. It is not clear if Fortnite will reintroduce the Mech as players last saw it, the original version, or if it will be something completely new.
The verbiage of the file uncovered by ShiinaBR, particularly the mention of “funding,” suggests that the decision to bring back the Mech may be left to the players. For season 8, Fortnite began allowing players to choose which item they would like to see reintegrated into the game. Players can donate gold bars to help “fund” the return of old items, the most recent of which saw the Shockwave Launchers prevail against the Rift-To-Go. If the Mechs are indeed votable, it should be interesting to see what the other option might be.
If the leak proves correct, players should still have a few more weeks before an open mention of Mechs makes its way. Fortnite. In the meantime, players can have a go at defeating the Assassin Cube, although having a Mech for the encounter would definitely help.
Fortnite is free on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One. and Xbox Series X / S.
