Fortnite has built a reputation for getting huge crossovers with the biggest names in popular culture. Now, a leak has hinted that Marvel’s Spider-Man will be swinging the island later this year.

Marvel and Fortnite have a long history of crossovers, from Carnage in Season 8 to a full Hero Battle Pass in Season 4.

After years of crossovers, there’s no shortage of character skins on the Fortnite map, and a leaker has suggested that a long-awaited character may join the party soon.

Spider-Man, one of the most popular comic book heroes in history, could finally make his Fortnite debut.

Well-known Fortnite leaker, Hypex, revealed on Twitter that Epic Games is working on a character for a 2021 release codenamed WestSausage.

The dataminer claims that this name could represent “Web-Slinger”, a direct nod to the famous Marvel heroes’ nickname.

They also noted that the character we’re working on is supposed to have swing mechanics, with in-game text mentioning features like “swing attachment location” and “swing acceleration”.

All signs seem to indicate that this is the long awaited arrival of the wallcrawler in Fortnite, although we are awaiting official confirmation.

The post doesn’t go into details on when Spider-Man will join the game, but with his upcoming film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, hitting theaters in December, it’s possible the two will coincide.

It remains to be seen whether the possible crossover character will feature the likeness of the MCU version of Tom Holland, or take inspiration from the original comic book costume.

The leak sparked excitement in the community, with fans speculating that other versions of the character, such as Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield, would be added as well.

We’re still waiting for official confirmation on whether this leak is accurate or not, but with the new Spider-Man movie on the horizon, an announcement is hopefully not too far away.
