Fortnite could finally add melee weapons
From Bandage Bazookers to Boogie Bombs, Icy Grapplers to Boom Bows, there have been some weird and wonderful additions to the fortnite arsenal. Each season comes with a new set of weapons to get your hands on, and away from the usual shotguns, pistols, and machine guns, there are always some quirky season additions.
In Chapter 3 Season 2, we had the long-awaited return of lightsabers for the star wars-May 4th themed event, and it makes us think, why aren’t there more melee weapons in fortnite? If it weren’t for lightsabers (though they’re coming soon), this classic pickaxe is your only melee weapon in the battle royale favorite. Well, it might not be for long.
Are melee weapons coming to Fortnite?
Recent Emicida gigs have given us a hands-on introduction to a new sword, and apparently this could lead to a more permanent addition of melee weapons to the main Battle Royale mode. remember that fortnite weapons tend to appear in Battle Royale before being added to Creative. If that wasn’t enough, there was a Melee Manager device that leaked early on.
fortnite fan @cookybitz suggests that the melee manager might be added with the next update – suggesting that swords and other handheld weapons might be just around the corner. As Sportskeeda pointed out, prominent leaker iFireMonkey previously dug deep into the game’s files and found six melee weapons.
Although the leak was back in January, it claimed that a basic spear, sledgehammer, fire axe, medieval sword, molten sword, and ninja sword would all be on the way. We’d love to see a medieval sword come into play, and while you’re at it, why not bring back the fan-favorite Colosseum point of interest? Interestingly, the Emicida event sword is very similar to the medieval sword, so we might have some money with this one.
When might we see melee weapons in Fortnite?
Keep in mind this isn’t the first time we’ve seen melee weapons other than your standard harvesting tool. The Sideways Scythe was a powerful addition in Chapter 2 Season 8. Other than that, Thor’s Stormbreaker appeared in the Endgame LTM, we got the Amban Sniper Rifle’s melee attack for the mandalorianthemed from Chapter 2 Season 5, and a Kingsman– inspired umbrella for Spy Games.
Normally, melee weapons come with some kind of gadget related to the latest pop culture crossover. Much like how the store rotates skins, melee weapons are never around for long. In a game that has so many different variations of other weapons, it’s disappointing that the melee options aren’t more permanent. Primal Season has added some famous arcs to the meta, and with Chapter 3 Season 3 fast approaching, we’ll have to wait and see what Epic’s revamp has in store.
